Palliative Care FAQs

What is palliative care?
Palliative care is specialized care focused on relief from the symptoms and stress of a serious illness. Its goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family — at any age and any stage of the illness.
How is palliative care different from hospice?
Palliative care can begin at diagnosis and is provided alongside curative treatment. Hospice is comfort care for the final months, when curative treatment is no longer the goal. If needs change, patients can transition from palliative care to hospice.
Do I have to stop my current treatment?
No. Palliative care works right alongside the treatments you are already receiving from your doctors — it's an added layer of support, not a replacement.
Who pays for palliative care?
Palliative services are covered by most health insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private pay. Our team can help you understand your coverage.
